Adolescents

As a parent, you've most likely heard the following phrase exclaimed in frustration by your teenager:
"No one understands me!"
While loving parents may be doing their absolute best to reach out to their teens, it may seem like there is no way to get through to them.
Let Two Hearts Counseling help.
Therapy for teens offers a safe place to talk about issues that they wouldn't necessarily want to bring up with their parents. However, the goal of Two Hearts Counseling is to help bridge the relationship between adolescents and parents - helping teens to find the best way to express their issues, eventually arriving at a place where they can communicate those concerns with their parents. Sessions with the the teenager and parents present are always a great way to facilitate this after the teenager has had sufficient time to develop trust with the therapist.
Initially, teens may resist coming to therapy - and that's perfectly normal. However, they will quickly find freedom in discovering that therapy is whatever they want it to be. Some teens choose to simply sit and talk about their week, others prefer to do an art project or play a board game while chatting with their therapist. Therapy affords them the opportunity to reflect upon the choices they are making outside of therapy sessions. They are then able to discuss how they would like to make changes in order to feel or think differently about themselves and the world around them.
In bringing your adolescent to Two Hearts Counseling, you are offering your teen an invaluable gift that they are desperately craving:
The gift of feeling understood!
